Frozen Yogurt Chart Pr0n

So, a while back I did something that was useful to myself as well as the other weight watchers out there with a taste for Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and made a chart with all of the point values for the tasty pints. Chart’s are a great way to see the point values for items, so I’ve returned to do it again. This chart maps out the point values for the healthy ice cream alternative that I’ve mentioned before: Stonyfield Farms Organic Frozen Yogurt. The list has fat free at the top, and low fat frozen yogurts at the bottom in blue. Remember folks, ice cream is never out of season, enjoy!

Because it’s Tuesday: National Ice Cream Month Chart Pr0n

Hi folks, and welcome to the tail end of National Ice Cream month. You heard me right, this entire month has been devoted to ice cream, and I didn’t get around to telling you until now. I know, I’m a bad person. Actually, I’m even more horrible than you think. National Ice Cream Day, the day where EVERYONE should eat some ice cream…has already gone past.

You heard me right, it was actually this past Sunday as the third Sunday of the month. What’s horrifying is that I didn’t even get to knock back a pint on that day, or go to a parlor (I did manage to grab an ice cream snickers, but that doesn’t count).

So, to make it up to everyone, I got a little industrious, and made the ultimate Ben & Jerry’s chart. Yup, I did it. All of the flavors listed on their website with Weight Watcher’s friendly breakdown of nutrition per serving as well as point values per serving, and per pint. That last bit’s just because I’m me, and can’t walk away from an opened Ben & Jerry’s.

Well, here’s the list folks. Now you can put a number on guilt…Or, take a break, say what the heck, and enjoy Ice Cream for what it is: frozen happiness. No gutter minded jokes now, you hear!? No going there 😛

What’s New: Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked Froyo

So, this past week, there has been an amazing 2 for 1 sale running at Shaw’s Supermarkets on pints of Ben and Jerry’s. It’s not a huge sale as their prices on the ice cream run a bit higher than other stores at $3.99, but still, with the amount of Ben and Jerry’s that get’s eaten at my apartment, it was a good plan to take advantage of the minor savings.

So, besides grabbing some of my favorite flavors, I decided to give a healthier alternative a try. Now, most Ben and Jerry’s flavors are diet busters when you consider how likely I am to bust though an entire pint in a  sitting without breaking a sweat.

Remembering that I don’t mind Stonyfield Farms Organic Frozen Yogurt, I figured that I’d give Half Baked Froyo a try, as it’s one of their normal flavors that is usually delicious. The pint weighs in a bit heavier than my After Dark Chocolate from Stonyfield at 15 points. Still, compared to any normal offering from Ben and Jerry’s, this is a drop in the point bucket. It may put me over my points in a day, but won’t skyrocket me into the next county.

Well, with the nutrition out of the way, how was the dessert? Well, I guess it can be summed up by saying that for the first time ever, I threw away some ice cream. The flavor was very off, and I mean more off than your average frozen yogurt. Still, this wasn’t what bothered me the most. It was the texture. The entire pint was mealy. This was compounded by the fact that the cookie dough, and brownie were a different density of meely-ness than the bad frozen yogurt. I tried to give it a chance, thinking maybe it was  a bit freezer burnt, but the entire pint was like this as I dug through it.

Final verdict, sooo not worth it. I’d rather just enjoy the calorie bomb that is the normal, and amazing Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. Let’s hope that their froyo and I never cross paths again.

Organic Frozen Yogurt?

7 Point Pint!

7 Point Pint!

Temperature very rarely dictates my cravings. I’ll want a fresh steaming bowl of corn chowder on a blazing 100 degree day, or even a pint of ice cream in the middle of a snow storm. Temperature dictations aside, who out there has ever happily chowed down on an entire pint of ice cream thanks to some incomprehensible desire to eat the entire thing? Well, here’s hoping I’m not the only one. I think it’s a given that this kind of splurge is a diet breaker. After a little research, I did find my own solution.

While digging around on a quiet night at the grocery store, I was battling with myself about getting some Ben and Jerry’s. This was bad, so I started reasoning with myself. I moved over to looking at low fat ice creams, and then to frozen yogurt. Finally, I stumbled upon the Stonyfield Farms Organic Frozen Yogurt. Looking at the package, I found that the entire pint would only be 7 points (a little heavy for dessert, but better than falling off the wagon.) With a tad bit of uncertainty, I grabbed it, and returned home. To my utmost surprise, it was pretty good. It’s by no means, a Ben And Jerry’s Everything But The…, but it satisfied the craving, and maintained my daily points. For those of you out there who fall to this kind of crazing like I do, give this a try and see if it might be your solution as well.
